Live footage of me going through this book

That being said, this book isn't bad AT ALL. I actually thoroughly enjoyed it, but it just ran very long. The pacing felt jagged and it took almost 200 pages to get the "conflict" that the synopsis suggests.

And that said "conflict" is why I gave this book 3 stars. I loved everything else about this book, EVERYTHING. I can't explain the conflict because of spoilers, but it left me uncomfortable throughout the entire reading experience. It also made the romance unnerving to read about.

Speaking of romance... Welcome to my favorite part of the book! I absolutely loved the dynamic between Troa and Zoranno. I loved how it was developed and their banter was priceless. (I couldn't get over Zoranno's nickname for Troa "my little firefly". BUT their relationship left a sour taste in my mouth because of the "conflict".

I enjoyed Troa's friendship with Benn and Omi. It was a lovely found family even though Benn is pretty much the token gay character. Troa and Omi relationship was wonderful to read about. I love strong female friendships <3

In short, this book was good! I simply didn't like the "conflict" and the pacing but the ending left me in tatters!

I am very excited for book 2 :)
