The first in a series of books about masterpieces in the Frick collection. Salomon is a Frick museum curator who provides a mini-bio of Holbein, details the provenance of the work before it was acquired by the Frick, and does some analysis of the art. Mantel - in a precious 5 pages - writes a "letter" to More. This was interesting and informative, but I wish it had been more balanced between the literary portion and the art history piece, which was what I expected. It could have used a lot more Mantel, one of the most exquisite wordsmiths writing today in my opinion.
