Eloise and Rhett are one of my favorite funny book couples. Right from the start I was laughing out loud, but I was also drawn into the passion and dedication that they both have everything they put an effort into. I had so many favorite lines in this book, so many LOL moments, just so many of everything it's easy to say I loved The Hero and the Hacktivist.

Rhett Elliott, an American hero SEAL, also known as Parker's brother and now Knox's brother-in-law (which up until now their story has been my favorite Pippa Grant book-check it out if you haven't-it's hilarious and oh so good!). Like a good brother, Rhett is attending their wedding when he is propositioned by Eloise, Parker's bandmate and current bridesmaid. The moment is hilarious and I found myself snort-laughing through the entire "seduction". I fell in instalove with both characters right out of the socially awkward-passion filled gate. The story barely begins, we have an instant connection, but Eloise never goes back for more after she's had a taste and no matter what she does to shake Rhett for most of the book, for very good reason, he sticks around. She fights justice in her own way, but it unfortunately it puts a target on her back for some very bad people to come after her. It's a good thing a certain SEAL can't seem to get over her quirkiness, nor get over his huge...ego or hero complex when it comes to helping people even when they don't want it.

Eloise and Rhett appear like opposites when you see them together, but they are more alike than anyone would have ever realized as they spend more time together. Can two heroes who fight for justice work together when they fight in very different ways?

Cute story. Loved Eloise and all her wackiness. Rhett was her complete opposite and it was hilarious to not only see their interactions but also him fighting falling for her.

By far my favorite

I’m so in love with Eloise it’s not even funny. My husband kept looking at me funny as I cried from laughing throughout this book. And now I’m on to the next in this universe

DNF

Omigosh, (FMC) is just absolutely gross. Not funny, not spunky, not someone that's adorable. Think about the crassest, overtly seggs-obssessed (supposedly), gross frat bro you can think of (pick any satire movie and roll with it), put it in a tiny, tatted, punk-rock wannabe chick with an absolutely massive chip on her shoulder who's spiteful for the sake of being a b*tch. That's your FMC. I guess Eloise is supposed to be carefree, spunky, cute. I got none of that. She's just crass, dense, insensitive, and rude. Rhett at the MMC is fine, fairly forgettable, and he deserves WAAAAAY better than some trashy wanna-be "hacktivist" without a clue who’s just pissed about who her daddy is/was. Fairly early in this book I started skimming the story to just finish it and keep moving forward and eventually just gave up. I kept pushing through until about halfway through the book and just couldn't bring myself to finish it. I read over 100 books a year, easy, and I do not finish maybe 3. I adore most of Pippa's books, read over a dozen of them, and even if I don't always love the MC, I I can usually force myself to finish just about any book and still enjoy the story for the most part (e.g: Parker (Stud in the Stacks) & Peach (Royally Inconvenient Marriage) did not do it for me as FMCs). But this one goes one? It goes on my VERY short list of DNF's. Skip it. They get together. That's all you need to know.

Note: This is NOT the first book in the Pippaverse and it really does help to read them all in order. All the books are more of standALONGS vs standalones. You CAN read them in any order, but reading them Pippa’s intended order is better. You can find that order (constantly updated) on Pippa Grant's website and I highly suggest going back to the first book(s) between all the different smaller series for a fuller experience.

I did not enjoy this as much as I thought I would. The writing is okay and funny at times, but I lost it at every single weird euphemism referring to the main characters’ genitals. Perhaps consuming this book as an audio made it worse lol

So quirky and fun! Fell in love with these characters! Loved the weird banter between them and how it all comes together! Great story that gives you some great chuckles!

This one didn’t do it for me. I didn’t feel like there was ANY chemistry between Rhett and Eloise. Eloise was a train wreck, and I couldn’t find much to redeem her character. It just felt like none of the book was fleshed out, from either of their backgrounds to the actual storyline. We don’t even get the fall-in-love vibes of this story. It’s like they bang, there’s minimal storyline, then it’s true love. Kinda felt like these characters were given this book just to finish the girl band series and jump start the SEALs series. I was hoping for more oomph to Eloise’s story, since she’s such a complex character.

Oh Eloise... I want to be you.

As always - Pippa wrote the funniest emotional book. I have no idea how she writes characters that pull at my heart strings so much - yet the story is so over the top funny and unbelievable. Eloise doesn’t let anyone close - except her girlfriends, who she still keeps at a distance. Rhett doesn’t let anyone close because he is always leaving for Seal missions. Two unlikely people that have a connection from the beginning. Both trying to stay away but can’t. The comedy factor in this book is amazing. I laughed out loud so many times! Please please read this book. Everything Pippa writes is like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.
