The first book is a little slow to start but by the end of the series I had tears of happiness. It ended perfectly.

Somehow the weakest of the three books. The writing isn’t as snappy, the dialogue felt forced, and also Quentin is still kind of a whiny nothing without much personality. I guess he does mature a little from the first book.

I was disappointed that the book did not include a scene of Asmodeus slaying Reynard in gory fashion and that it was just mentioned in passing by Julia.

Первая книга мне не особо понравилась, но была любопытной, и мне стало интересно прочитать историю. Вторая книга была гораздо лучше по всем параметрам: меньше соплей, интересная реалистичная линия на Земле, какой-то поиск себя у персонажей. Я очень надеялся, что в третьей книге этот тренд продолжится, и она наконец станет хорошей книгой. Но увы.

Эта часть — нагромождение нелогичных линий сюжета, завал роялей в кустах и розовых соплей. Кажется, что автору просто надоело писать эту историю и он просто наплел туда первое, что пришло в голову. Подразумевается, наверное, что мы к этому моменту должны переживать за героев и всякое такое, и на этом строится большая часть сюжета. Но они были настолько плохо раскрыты в прошлых книгах, что читать про их санта-барбару невыносимо скучно. Единственный крутой персонаж из 2 книги тут не участвует совсем (кроме самой концовки). Сюжета тут еще меньше, чем в первой книге. Местами все так глупо, что я фейспалмил и кринжевал, продираясь через эпизоды.

Есть один плюс: если вы почему-то прочитали 1 и 2 книгу, тут наконец будут закрыты все основные вопросы и интриги. Спойлер: по большей части довольно скучным образом. Мне запомнился ровно один эпизод, где я прочувствовал что-то и увлекся. Но он занял минут 10 целиком.

В общем, в какой-то момент я включил 2.5 скорость (обычно 1.5), чисто чтобы закрыть гештальт.

По результату серии: не рекомендую. Даже как янг эдалт литература это очень посредственно.

I was underwhelmed by this when I first read it. I read it when it had just come out, and didn't bother re-reading the earlier novels, so I was really confused about who Alice was and what was going on. On re-reading the series in a row, it's better than the second book, but still pretty underwhelming. Quentin never actually learns anything and his observational voice is still gross, even though he (heroically?) never tries to have sex with Plum.
