I thought the book was trying to be very hollywood-esque. Wasn't fan of the ending either.

Gave up on this one. Found the main character too irritating

Light and fluffy, but well written and very entertaining. Imagine Heat magazine without the bitchy undertones or that Louis Spence bloke.

I am not sure if I can actually put my rating here as I could not ever make myself to finish this book. Just so boring and so hard to read - unbelievable.

Oh dear.

I received this book for free with a magazine a few years ago and never got around to reading it however I recently finished a 700+ page book and felt the need to read something small, easy and quick and thought that this would be the answer.

First thing that struck me with this book was the stereotypically characters:

There's the silly heiress who spends money on ridiculous clothes and bags and updates her facebook status to gain attention. The girl also tries on wedding dresses in France because there is a photo of her 'boyfriend' with a Tiffany bag on the internet. Don't even get me started on the kidnapping plan.

There's the stupid best friend who encourages all the outrageous schemes.

There's the 'eco-warriors' who are stereotypical hippies who don't wash and live in a gross house.

Etc. etc.

The characters don't develop naturally. One page Birdie is self centred and the next she is all concerned with the environment.

Something else that irritated me was how the author had lazily made connections for the characters, for example, the gardener is fired by Birdie and then the Clemency (the PA) goes to a party of an old school friend who happens to be one of the eco-warriors and while at this party she offers the job to Nate, who happened to have done a demonstration at the Granddad's development. Birdie just happened to be double jointed so could slip her foot out of the ankle tag etc.

One good thing about this book? It was short.

I got this as a free gift from Cosmopolitan magazine during the summer few years ago, a true chic lit at heart, every girl can some way or another relate to it. I must admit, my review is based on 5 pages read, one day I will finish it, the book did grasp my attention.
