Exceptional, raw, guts exposed...the language is so fluid and heart rendering. Loved it!

Rachel McKibbens' Pink Elephant is as beautiful as it is painful to read. An excruciatingly surreal exploration of dysfunctional family dynamics and a troubled childhood; the collection pulls no punches. Despite the difficult themes, I am in awe of McKibbens' craft and attention to detail. My favorite poems were "Central Park, Mother's Day" and "Poem for the Missing Poems About My Ex-Husband."

Beautiful poems, but I should have read these before the other works of the author. It is her first book which is clear, but it is nice seeing how far she has since come. Still worth reading, but something to remember.

Rachel McKibbens Pink Elephant lodged itself under my diaphram and left me completely breathless.
