Short, but beautifully written. Jack is a great character in this series. It’s always a gift when she returns.

loved this little return to the moors; jack and jill’s story is one of my favourites, and their world is one that i felt the most immersed in.

This short story is essentially a Jack flashback. It's a little montage of her becoming Dr. Bleak's apprentice and of how she meets Alexis. While I've loved the Moors, this one didn't offer anything new to the whole continuity. It rehashes details we already now (having read the books up until this one) and depicts the Moors' version of a meet cute. Overall, I just found it OK.
