Was having fun reading a marriage of convenience story about a hockey player but then it turned into a thriller kinda??? Could have done w out that. Halfway through the book spooky shit started happening and it was not what I signed up for lmfao. And then the ending?!?? Straight up a kidnapping and more nefarious shit going on. 
Take all that out and I had a great time reading it lmao. There was no problem with it, it just wasn’t what I expected or wanted out of the book. I could easily pick up on what was happening and got a lil annoyed at the characters for not realising but oh well. 
Mild miscommunication trope but was solved relatively quick before the batshit started hahah.

Docking a star for

the gone girl false accusations plot that comes from nowhere feels very derivative and adds to the cultural narrative that women lying is common

. 

I wanted to but didn't dock a star for the pregnancy without discussion of abortion. It's obviously an awkward time in the relationship and not even considering it to dismiss it (in Canada no less) is puritanical. Plus I'm reading this the week of the Dobbs decision where I'd kill for representation of people who are or intend to parent having an abortion (a very common thing irl)

This book was such a rollercoaster! The only way to describe it is that it's like a soap opera, in the best way possible. There's so much happening, all the drama, but somehow it works so well!
