this series is going to bring me back from my thriller and mystery reading, serious self.

for the past month, i read only the same genre which somewhat unknowingly disturbed and made me forget the aura i used to feel when i would enjoy every page of the book. don't get me wrong, i am in LOVE with the thrillers (always gonna be on top) though the point here is i forgot, how happily excited i used to get when i was reading these cute romance books or ever romantasy as a matter-of-fact.

while reading this book, i just know im gonna lve the entire series (god please let that become true). it brings so much nostalgia of me reading the romance genre and yet its so different from all them at the same time.

that may be because of the dystopian setting but with kings and queens. and i absolutely love the MMC and FMC. i mean the chemistry they built in just the novella was awesome, i can't wait to read the actual book, and furthermore, the series.

i am actually excited.

A prequel type story to The Selection where you see it all from Maxon's point of view.

I really enjoyed this little story and found that I got some insight into Maxon's thoughts on the the Selection and the girls he met. I also found that I liked getting to know him better.

I also liked seeing America through his eyes as well as a few of the other girls in the Selection. It gave some explanation as to why some of the girls made it into the Elite and why some of the other girls were eliminated early.

I also liked the moment before when he was interacting with Daphne from France. She said that she loved him and he was confused and lost on the situation. This was one of those moments that opened a lot up for me about Maxon's life and I found that I liked him even more than I did after I read The Selection.

I can't wait to read more and see which girl Maxon chooses for his bride and if America will have enough time to figure out what she wants as well.

Idk how to feel about this. This had so much potential to be a lot better than this, but it ended up as nothing. I liked getting the opportunity to know Maxon's pov, how he felt about things & what made him take certain decisions. This could've been such a good take off it was done right. But it wasn't. This novella adds NOTHING to the series. If this wasn't there, not a single would change. And that's sad.
Knowing about Daphne? Nothing added. About him having to choose someone better for the sake of his throne? Well we already knew that.
It was so cliche to know that he had a "Love at first sight" for America. Cuz there was no "sight" in that dark night. This could've been so much better. But it didn't. I'm disappointed.

Enjoyed hearing part of the story from the Prince 's perspective. Enhanced the story, though not necessary to enjoy the book itself.
