Jeffrey Archer is one of my favorite authors, and this compilation of short stories did not disappoint. All of the stories have a clever twist. An added bonus at the end of the book is a preview of his upcoming novel, Heads You Win, to be released November 2018.

I need to read more short stories; these were pretty fun and a change of pace from what I normally read. Most of the stories have a fun twist at the end.
My personal favorite was A Gentleman and a Scholar.

Short stories, racy read, twist in the tale kinda, small and crisp, only 3 hours read.
There are two tales of only 100 words, interesting, though couldn't decipher later one. Two stories like the cuckold is so mediocre and already told by so many authors.
Go for it :)

This was an above average collection and I enjoyed most of the stories. Individual ratings for the stories are:

2) Who Killed the Mayor - ***Obvious twist.
3) View of Auvers-sur-Oise - ****
4) A Gentleman and a Scholar - ***
5) All's Fair in Love and War - ***Obvious twist. Reminded me of David and Bathsheba.
6) The Car Park Attendant - ***
7) A Wasted Hour - ****Even better on 2nd read.
8) The Road to Damascus - ****Heart-rending, especially as I visited Germany last year.
9) The Cuckold - ***Did not see that coming.
10) The Holiday of a Lifetime - ***3 alternate endings.
11) Double or Quits - ***
2) The Senior Vice President - ****Unpredictable.
13) A Good Toss to Lose - ***Another story set during the World Wars.

Some of these are predictable but I weirdly really liked all 3 centred around WW1&2 the most. The Car Park attendant was really funny. I can’t imagine a lot of these tales happening in the current day and age, makes me wonder what kind of crime we could have done back in the day.
