I received a copy in return for an honest review.

While I received the anniversary version for free, I bought the original version. Missy has secrets and isn't quite sure who she can trust with them. But she is sure the Rio, the man-whore, may not be the best choice to bare her soul to. At least her head thinks so even as her heart believes something totally different. But when agendas change and traitors are behind every corner, Missy has no choice but to allow Roi to know at least some of the truth. However has she waited too long to give him the knowledge he needs to protect her, him and their friends? I loved Roi. He was kick-ass but hid it well beneath an irreverent personality. He hasn't been able to crack Missy shell but he is determine that she see his is more than his reputation. I loved that Ms. Roth gave us two strong characters in Missy and Roi. Missy was determined to do what is right even if it costs her life but Roi is equally determine that she live. The push pull as Roi and Missy learn to trust each other was well articulated. This story is action packed from beginning to end and well worth your time!

I definitely did not enjoy this one as much as the first one. There was literally like no chemistry between Roi and Missy that I could feel. There was no real development. It honestly seemed pretty toxic to me, which is super disappointing compared to the first book. There was no natural development at all to the story or to the characters, and it honestly was problematic in some places, especially at the end during a scene when Roi literally is having rough sex with Missy to “teach her a lesson” about who “the Alpha is in the relationship” and it honestly made me sick to my stomach and I just cannot condone this type of relationship and I cannot recommend this to anyone.

I got this as part of the Immortal Ops Box Set Books 1-4 (Shifters Romance)

~ 4 Critical Stars ~

Critical Intelligence is book two in Immortal Ops series by Mandy M. Roth. Wow this was an improvement from book one. The plot thickens, lots more action and we learn more about the I-Ops Team. The story is a short story, but it is not rushed and more character development made for a much more appealing read! It also helped that we get characters that have already known each other in book one giving them a chance to develop more of a romantic relationship.

Both Roi and his gal Missy did not disappoint. They worked great as a couple. Both are full of attitude, sass and both are alphas, which made for an fascinating read. The endless bantering kept me entertained. We get a fair amount of sexual tension built up in the previous novella that when they hit it off its HOT and the romance did not feel too rushed.

I enjoyed Critical Intelligence! The snarky witty comments, hot sex and action kept me engaged and I look forward to seeing more of the other I-Ops team members.

I loved how strong and smart arsed Missy is and how she takes no shit from Roi. The best book in the bookset of four that I've read.

Missy is paranormal because she was experimented on as a child, she also happens to be Roi's mate. She met him when she was four and has been searching for him her whole life. The road for them is not smooth, he's been with a lot of women and Missy doesn't want to just be a notch on his bedpost. Roi suffers from foot in mouth disease, it seems they are doomed from the start, especially when he learns who she works for and wants her to stay safe and out of harms way.

However, when he and his team see her in action and have only respect for her bad-ass-ness. A fantastically hot book with well thought out characters.

*Sighs heavily....*

I was highly disappointed with this novel as a whole. Firstly, Roth chose to ignore all the wonderful foreshadowing she built up in the first book and focus on two other characters instead of flushing out all the powerful and addicting action that she could have. Secondly, this novel is all about sex. Even the action is made light of because the author focuses on the would-be sexual relationship of Roi and Missy. It's more than regretful because she makes them both out to be characters whose actions scream out, both are very good at what they do and yet we don't really see them in action.

There is a magnificent fight scene that draws inspiration from the first novel in the series but not much happens with it. I was expecting a chase, a race to figure out who was behind it, something. I mean, for a paranormal government agency that centers on paranormal activity and making sure angry supernaturals don't kill off the human race, we don't really see any of the operatives at work. It's really just there as background instead of being integral to the plot as it should be. I have the entire collection but now i don't want to finish it. I had been so optimistic at the end of the first novel, even though it wasn't that good, and now all my hopes are dashed.

Parts of the story were a little convoluted, so I was confused and had to go back and re-read some bits. But otherwise, this was a pretty fun read. I'm glad these books are turning out to be decent, since I purchased them on a whim. :-)

Critical Intelligence (Immortal Ops #2)
is better than the first book only by a smidge and I think because it was Roi and I loved him in the first book. The Alpha males and their women know how to kick butt and still have fun and make me laugh out loud. Roi is hilarious and asinine and made the story so enjoyable.

Geoffroi "Roi" Majors is a member of the Immortal Ops Team who loves women with no plans to settle down, ever. But when his team are called in to help he discovers his womanising ways are over and his soul mate is right there in front of him. Now all he has to do is convince her, which is easier said than done.

Missy Charter is a secret undercover operator and there are only three people who know. She knows something is up with their new acquaintances but she is not sure what. What she does know though is that her heart beats for a certain womaniser but she won’t give him the time of day.

I loved it so it’s on to the next book.

Missy Carter may be the boss' daughter but she is more than capable! Roi is just off the charts alphaness at its best! Witty banter is foreplay for these two and when they finally get together its OMG hotness!!! The I-ops team and PSI team are generally compertmentalised but now the genie is out of the bottle, can they work together?

We find out more about the despicable Asia project and the females who are now in harms way. Although part of a series, these books can be read as stand alones but much more enjoyable when you read them in order!
