This here is a collection of short stories taking place in the world of the Temeraire series, an alternate take on the Napoleonic war with the inclusion of sentient dragons. You also get a lot of lovely art of the characters in the book series. Basically, if you want more glimpses of this world, and of "what ifs" from this world, this is the book for you! It sure was the book for me. My favorite story in here is the dragon-rider take on Pride and Prejudice, excellent retelling of that story!

A wonderful mix of exploration of secondary characters and might have been plot lines. Just a delight to revisit the world of Temeraire and friends. Hands down favorite "Dragons and Decorum"

Really quite good, an excellent dessert to a terrific series.

This collection feels like a bit of a hiccup at the end of the Temeraire series — some longer vignettes that don't feel like full short stories, a complete rewrite of Pride and Prejudice but within the Temeraire world (and with a much, much nicer and nobler and more understanding Mr. Darcy), and then a whole bunch of literal drabbles, just 100-word snippet portraits of various times and places. The AU where Temeraire becomes a pirate king was engaging and entertaining, and the portrait of a younger Jane, even though it feels like it could have been a full novel itself instead of a snippet. Mostly, though, this feels like a grab bag of ideas that didn't fully come to fruition, a nice lagniappe for series fans, but not really standing on its own.

Some fan service is good fan service.

Great short tales from the Temeraire universe - quite fun! Neat idea to augment the longer tales (which were much appreciated) by writing very short stories based on fan art - and I learned a new word: drabbles!
