This was cute! I am admittedly v biased to any and every book about Selena, but this was adorable, and I enjoyed it!

I don’t know! I learned a lot. I didn’t know she learned Spanish to sing. Beautiful art. But I also have questions. No citations. Author’s note openly admits creative license imagining Selena’s thoughts as a kid. The only mention of her husband is that “she got married” not even his name. I know about his feud with the family so I wonder if that played into the authorial choices here which also gives me pause.

The book ends with Selena’s astrodome concert. Author’s note mentions she “was killed” three months later but I think that’s a little too sanitized. Even for a picture book.
