I was too bored. I didn’t feel any fascination or spark. The world this took place in was just not likable to me. Then I read a view reviews that weren’t 5 stars and figured it would not get better for me.

Based on the reviews I had higher expectations and they were not met.
The writing was really good but some parts were really extremely boring + this was the most insta love (which is a trope I don’t like) I’ve ever read and romance was supposed to be a subplot.

The romance is off the charts for me in this one. It's a good break from very physically driven romances as the main characters fall for each other through their letters . I cried multiple times.
Graphic: War, Death, and Death of parent
Moderate: Blood

A lot of reviews I read called this a 'historical fiction type fanfiction' I wouldn't necessarily call it that at all. It feels as though it's set in the past yes, but not in our world. It's set in a world of old gods and goddesses. Of corresponding through mail and cars not being as widely used. Along the romance line it's Romantic in a not overly sappy way. Definitely enemies to lovers but in a way that makes the story believeable. There were definitely a lot of times I teared up due to the descriptions of war and death being written in such a way that made you feel as if you were there. I'm not sure that I expected much from this book. If anything I thought I would tolerate it at most, but this is definitely getting bought and added to my "read multiple times" bookshelf.
