Is it a translation when it is done by the author himself? Or just another face of original work. Either way, I am glad this one got nominated. It is first book in verse I have read from an African author.

Simple in the way that works drawing on oral tradition often are, but more complex below the surface! I always like the use of repetition, throw in a quest, trials to overcome, a sprawling journey rooted in the landscape of Kenya and some genuinely kick ass women and you've got a fun time!
