This was a good one. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Subject matter is a little disturbing but still a good read. I loved th main characters and the way it ended. I cried a little and gasped a lot! It has a nice little twist at the end. Would like to see the charactera again.
Sad story
This was a very quick read for me. The story was good and there were a few people that could have been the killer/abducter. I did figure out who it was fairly early on, but it was just a lucky guess. There's not a ton of action in this, so don't expect to be on the edge of your seat while reading but it wasn't boring either.

TW: sexual abuse among other things. It's a bit like We Need to Talk About Kevin in the "signs to look out for" kind of way.
Suspenseful and intense. The writing was descriptive and image producing!
Drawing on research on true events, Kali White delivers a compelling novel about the disappearance of local paper boys and a young woman’s quest to write a winning news article while unraveling the twisted truths to the story.
Highly recommended. Well written and great character development.

My book club enjoyed discussing this book.
I actually had to begin this book over a few times for clarification (it could've just been me).
We discussed parenting, the difference between Baby Boomers, Generation X, & Millennials.
We discussed what a stranger looks like to a child, then versus now.
We discussed single parents, divorced parents, and 2 parenting households.
We discussed kids trusting adults. Kids having outlets outside of parents.
We discussed doing the best you can with what you have.
I would be considered a helicopter parent. I want to encourage and have an ongoing daily dialogue with my child to ensure an open line of communication. I want the school and community to see me as a highly visible no-nonsense parent. I want to be a provider, protector, and the best cheerleader.
I feel like if you do all you can do and it still happens to you (Kidnapping or child abuse) I have done all I can do.
This young boy was failed by his parents.
This young girl was failed by her parents.
The parents were not observant, not listening, and definitely not paying attention, NOT even when the information was placed in their lap.
The police detective was overworked and burnt out. Although he gave it an ole college try, he wasn't mentally up for the challenge.
It's a really good mystery, a good read, I would recommend.

This was very scary and upsetting. I had to take breaks.
I loved this! Great writing, complex characters and a Des Moines setting! I couldn’t put it down, and I loved the multiple POVs!
This book was pretty good - I really like the characters, and the mystery was sound. I thought the ending was a little weird, but good.
