look i know the writing is repetitive i understand and acknowledge that this is not the most well written book. however! it is fun, quick to read especially when you want something light or easy to focus on, and unfortunately (for me) there's a particular scene near the end of this one (iykyk) that changed me forever when i read it the first time as a teenager and i guess i can forgive these silly books all of their faults because of that. what can i say what can i do what can i say

Definitely better than the first book in the series, with several plot twists. Still no solutions, so reading the third book as well will be necessary.

This book is mostly a vehicle to advance the plot, but that doesn't mean it wasn't an enjoyable read. The think I probably like best about this novel is that you really seem to get to know how Em is adjusting to her new life - letting some things go that will never be the same but still stubbornly holding on to hope for her past life. This book is a great read for people who relate to that shift of personality that happens to all of us, although we don't often realize it so drastically nor have such unusual circumstances surrounding it.

I liked it better than the first (more conspiracy theory & action), and I have high hopes for the third book in the series!

Meg Cabot gets really ambitious with BEING NIKKI, the second book in the Airhead series, which features corporate conspiracies, advanced technology, and hidden motives. However, the pacing was clumsy, which made for a less-than-satisfying reading experience.

BEING NIKKI introduces a whole array of new complicating elements. While these eventually move the plot along to its ambitious point of corporate conspiracy, the first two-thirds of the book did very little for that point. I constantly found myself shaking my head in disbelief at the number of confusing layers wrapped up in one another that did not contribute to the point of the book. The characters were, for the most part, annoying and no different than they were in the first book.

The ending I admit is pretty cool, but it places high expectations on the third book in the series to wrap all the different threads up. I will probably finish reading this series, as BEING NIKKI ends on such a horrifying note that I can’t help but demand to know how it ends, but I highly doubt this will go on any list of books I’d recommend to people. The series lacks something…maybe heart?

Every time I found myself getting frustrated with this book I had to remind myself that it was written for teenagers, from a teenage perspective. But that didn't always help. Em is so annoying in this one as a narrator, constantly repeating things to us about her situation, they boys in her life and about her modelling career. The villain(s) feel a little unrealistic and not because I don't believe that billionaire ceos can't be *that* bad, but because they're written in such an underdeveloped way. The intrigue is there though towards the end and some of the later revelations are interesting. One more book to go.
