I firmly believe this is a canonical sequel to Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue. Nothing can convince me that Emily Wilde isn’t Lizzy Griffith’s pen name.

I adored the way this book way written. The way Emily was written, the pacing of the plot. The whole thing.

This book definitely stands out from other romantasy books I've read. First of all- there's only a little romance. And what romance there is- it's a little awkward. But in the best way. I'm not explaining things well- but just trust me.

Emily Wilde stands out as a fmc to me because she's intelligent, but to a fault. Often reckless. A little heartless. Career driven and socially inadequate most of the time. It was interesting to see a fmc who's blunt and who genuinely puts academic pursuits above her own well being and above those around her as well.

As for Wendell- I didn't know what to make of him. At first- I hated him. In just wanted to get rid of him. I was trying to figure out who the love interest would be- as I had only read half the description before diving into this book. And I just wasn't expecting Wendell. But by the end of the book- I had fallen for him. And while I definitely love Emily more- Wendell now has a place in my heart too.

The plot in this book was also top-tier.

That being said- the book was a little hard for me to get into. And that's the reason why it gets 4 stars instead of 5. It wasn't a perfect book. But it was pretty amazing once I did get into the swing of things. Emily and Wendell took some warming up to before I could love them.

Go read this book!
