TW: Repeated Rape, Suicidal Thoughts and Attempts, Abuse and Torture
This is a dark and heartbreaking novella, but also one of strength, survival and determination.

I adore Tenzin and we are given small glimpses into her past in previous books. Unfortunately, Tenzin's past is darkness, pain and anger. The Tenzin of the present has a wisdom, joy, honesty and curiosity that is so compelling to read. She is enigmatic and loyal to those she loves. This is such a dark and sad beginning tale of survival of our tiny bird girl.

I did not enjoy this book. I guess it's an important part of Tenzin's history, but this story was awful. Well written, but just awful. I know that vampire stories aren't necessarily hearts and roses stories, but this one was brutal. I won't read it again.

Ok people...we all have been waiting on some Tenzin past. You can't say you haven't, if you have been reading this series AT ALL!

This is Tenzin's origin story. I need not say more as we know she has been thru the ish.

Well done Ms Hunter.

I knew the highlights of Tenzin's story from the Elemental Mysteries, so I knew this was not going to be light easy short story. But it is worth the read. I came to understand more of how Tenzin is the way she is, but also am amazed and impressed at how far she has really come.

Easily the grimmest thing I've read this year, with content warning for pretty much non-stop rape. And a rewarding read, in ways I seriously did not expect.

interesting look into Tenzin back story. Violent and sad seem to describe it best.

So sad!

Poor Tenzin... that’s one hell of a start. What brutality. Beyond pain. I have no less respect and love for her, maybe more now that I know her story. She was definitely honed in hellfire and came striding out of there with glistening fangs dripping the blood of her enemies.

Synopsis- "You may call me Tenzin, if you like."

A girl. A mother. A slave. A monster. A survivor. Descended into madness. Forged in fire and darkness, she became one of the fiercest warriors the immortal world had ever known.

But in the beginning, there was a girl.

THE BRONZE BLADE is a novella of approximately 100 pages.

Review- I'm not convinced by this series/world. I read [b:A Hidden Fire|24259392|A Hidden Fire (Elemental Mysteries, #1)|Elizabeth Hunter|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1420198611l/24259392._SY75_.jpg|17897317] then mistakenly read [b:Blood and Sand|32880375|Blood and Sand (Elemental World, #2)|Elizabeth Hunter|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1478413603l/32880375._SY75_.jpg|23983135] thinking it was book two. Both were okay, but what was interesting was that I didn't even realise they weren't in the same series. Same world though. But I think it says something that if I can't recall who or what occurred in book one when I start book two, then you've written something forgettable (and I can recall most books). This was OK. Better than the other books I've read by this author, but this might be down to the fact that it's only 101 pages. Personally, if you want to read a good vampire story try Anne Rice, Charlaine Harris or even, Deborah Harkness first.
