I'm a huge fan of sci-fi short stories, and I was excited about this collection. However, it really wasn't engaging. Many of the apocalyptic scenarios were too similar (possibly that's just expected given the topic), and a lot of the stories felt like excerpts or summaries of books rather than a self-contained story. I didn't feel the need to stop and think or wonder after finishing any story, which is one of my favorite parts of reading short stories in the first place. None of the stories were particularly bad, but they didn't do a good job of keeping me interested and engaged.
