I was offered and given an ARC by Anna B. Doe, however I was already 50% into the book before I recieved the arc or knew I was getting one. So, although I have an arc of Lines on my kindle - this review has nothing to do with the arc but everything to do with my honest thoughts and opinions.

Firstly I would like to mention how genuinely happy I was to go back to the genre I started reading. I am an active New Adult/Adult/Contemporary etc romance reader, and this book was so refreshing to read and have a break from all the serious, gritty and intense books I am so used to reading.

Secondly, Anna B. Doe is a 'new to me' author and Lines is the very first book of hers that I have read and after finishing it, I can happily say that it will definitely NOT be the last. I am looking forward to book 2, Habits, to be releasedMarch 27th.

Thirdly, I would like to mention a few things I genuinely loved about this book. I loved that it was such an easy, sweet and enjoyable read. This book truly showed the innocence and vulnerability of young characters. I really loved that not only did this author hook you into the stories of the main characters, but she also made you hungry for more of the side characters stories, leaving you wanting more.

Lastly, I do have a couple things that I wouldn't say I hated but could have been happy without or happy having been added. I do want to quickly mention that although I wasn't a big fan of either of these, they're so easy to move on from. One was that a certain character that does wrong, has no repercussions for what she did, I wish there would have been some retribution towards her, but that could just be my 'adult-romance-story-reading-mind' coming into play there lol. Two, there were parts in the book that I felt were repeated a few times, that I felt didn't need to be.

Overall, out of so many YA romances I have read in the past, this was probably the most captivating one to date. I genuinely could not put this down, I finished it so quickly, and now I want more of the Greyford High students. I would definitely reccomend to anyone looking for a cute teenage romance book, this is for you.

This book was a quick and easy read. I just wish we could’ve seen some more apologizing from Derek about how he treated Amelia. I also wish we could’ve seen their relationship fleshed out a little more. Max is probably my favorite character.

Lines is a pretty cute YA book. It's one of my favorite genres- hate to "lovers." With the age appropriateness, not so much in the lovers realm but you know what I mean.

This high school tale is a carbon copy of my life...well except for the hot guy taking an interest. And maybe the second guy too. Okay, so it was nothing like my high school experience except for the existence of mean girls and bullies.

Lines was a fun adventure. It is clear where the story line is going so I wasn't surprised at all by the actions but seeing where it was going didn't detract from the story at all. This is clearly going to be the first in a series because the author gives you several secondary characters to fall for. Its just a question of who is next!

High Schoolers

Ok I admittedly did not know this was HIGH SCHOOL Hockey. I love hockey romance, but I don't like high school anything.
The story was excellent
The things happening are very age appropriate.
It's a good book. I will recommend for my son in a few years. I'll read the rest of the series to make sure the whole thing is ok.

"The line between love and hate is thin. Thinner than one strand of hair. Thinner than paper. Thinner than the petal of a flower."

Lines is the first book in this series and my first read from the author. This is a contemporary, YA story with bully romance and told in multiple POV.

It's the story of Lia and Derek, who have known each other since they were kids. She is your shy girl, likes to keep to herself and always trying to blend in. Lia is in her senior year and can't wait to escape and go to college. She wanted to get away from the bullies of her school, mostly due to Derek and his bestfriend's doing, Andrew.

Derek has always noticed Lia. He liked her so much since they were young but he was scared that he will be teased about it by his friends, so he hid it from everyone. He tried to cover it by teasing her mercilessly. But when a new kid came to their school and seemed to pay attention to Lia, he found himself a competition. And he is not one to share.

The author did the high school angst real good and setting up this world for the other characters that will have their own book. This was a pretty good read and brings back high school memories for me. A sweet, enjoyable read and highly recommends it to YA readers.
