Mummies!

This books was my least favourite out of the series but it still got a four star! That is how much I loved the Victoria Nelson story lines.

The plot of this book was brilliant but I thought the pace to be slow, the interactions between the characters to be okay, but strung out. This book felt like it could of been wrote in a much shorter way and had more depth and plot to it but it was still very good.

Definitely an entertaining read. Part of an extended series and a predecessor of the vampire mystery story subgenre that is now dominated by sex. This is more character and plot driven than "when do I get to the next hot and heavy bit" driven, and more enjoyable for that. This is the mummy one, which makes it fun.

Best of the series so far. This time a mummy's on the loose in Toronto. Not as cheesy as it sounds and I really felt for Vicki during one of the ordeals she goes through.

Best book of the series so far. A mummy is taking over Toronto's police and politicians. Vicki, Mike and Henry must stop him. Poor Vicki is thrown in jail and suffers quite a bit of abuse. But she proves she's one tough cookie during and after.

Not my favorite - I don't love books with the all-powerful antagonists who are defeated at the last minute, and
Spoilerthe lengthy interlude with Vicki drugged and helpless in jail being routinely tortured by a couple of angry criminals while the police ignore it was a lot to deal with
.

Original 5 Stars.

Re-read 4 Stars.

This one was different. Unique story line for a vamp novel. I enjoyed the Egyptian history notes added. But then, I'm a nerd.
More action than the previous, well written.
Vicky was more real, more relatable and likeable in this one.
I still love my Mikey.
Henry was a bit obnoxious here, less likeable, more cliche in moments, hence not a higher rating.

This was more dark and twisted than the Blood Ties episode based on it.
