What a sweet story. This is the story of Jamen and what he does when given another chance to see the girl he let go, because of becoming a vampire hunter. The sad paper is she is due to be married, and the wedding is what gave him the opportunity to see her again. I liked how Jamen’s self esteem started to change as he spent more time with Scarlett. I truly enjoyed the ending, it definitely gave hints about what is to come in the series. I highly recommend this book, especially if you love new twists on fairy tales.

Now, while this story takes a brief break from the fighting and the monsters that we have thus far been introduced to there are monsters lurking nonetheless. Jamen’s Yuletide Bride takes us to just before the brothers are given the mantle of the Slayers. Jamen is engaged to be married to the one he truly loves but now he feels that this taking on of the mantle has changed things and will put her in danger so he breaks it off. Scarlett is devastated by this of course but Jamen is no less damaged by what he felt he needed to do.
The story then moves ahead to where the story is just after Snow’s wedding. We watch as Jamen takes on the role of Lord of the lands of Westfall to perform duties that most of the brothers have shaken off in their tunnel vision pursuit of what they believed they were supposed to be doing…”wiping out all the vampires” from Fairelle. What Jamen doesn’t expect, even though a hint is given is that he will once again cross paths with the woman who’s heart he broke and destroyed his own for in ending their engagement.
Danger is afoot for the one he loves as death creeps closer for another. All is not what it seems at Sir Malcolm’s estate and plotting and death have been conspired in the name of money…but does it go deeper than that. Secrets are being kept by many and soon they will all come out and be known as all things must…when it is time for light.
This is yet another wonderfully written novella by Rebekah R. Ganiere that brings us a side of the Gwyn brothers and their lives and the things that have helped make them into who they are as Slayers. There is suspense, intrigue, love, sadness, hope and even despair as you wonder who will Scarlet choose? The one she loves and wants or the one she is now engaged to. This book is beautifully done and thoroughly engaging the whole way through. The characters and situations all blend together so well in this story and keep you engaged all the way to the end.
This is a series that will have readers coming back for more again and again with each passing chapter that they read. I give Jamen’s Yuletide Bride 5 out of 5 stars. It was truly enjoyable to read.
