There's not a lot of horror in Dead Silence. And the reason that the derelict luxury spaceliner is haunted is not that interesting. The sci-fi elements aren't particuarly interesting, either. The novel treads the path of many well-worn tropes, which is fine, if you're going to handle them well. But this one just handled them in a mediocre fashion. I'm not looking for novelty, necessarily. I'm looking for a solid story, well written and well told. Dead Silence was lackluster. It wasn't completely objectionable. But not terribly engaging, either. It's just kind of there. Moving on.

Oh man this book had so much promise being that it’s a horror book based in space. It didn’t give horror and that extremely disappointed me. The characters were flat and if anything annoying. Don’t ask me anyone’s name I can’t recall. Also there’s a lot of romance going on in here that made me audibly go “oh brother”. Towards the end I was just trying to get to the finish line. I wish it could have been better but alas.

this was a bit of a struggle to get through, unfortunately. just not really my cup of tea, but serviceable space horror with a really great setting!

Definitely along the vein of creepy space sci-fi, but with more human elements of horror. The suspense held, even with the sci-fi background.

This was anxiety inducing! The sci fi is mostly about the fact they are in space and the story could have been done anywhere in isolation. I mention this in case someone’s thinking of picking this up that’s not a huge sci-fi fan. I read past my bedtime multiple times!
Visual and visceral. Act 1 & 2 are flawless, while the end of the book does leave a bit to be desired. I was hoping for a Voller comeback and a Kane double cross. Regardless a very fun read for any sci-fi horror fans.
