Actually 3.5 stars

Needing a place to go to get away from her stalker, psychologist Kathryn Kelley takes a live-in position at a government research facility, teaching interpersonal skills to the mysterious "John Doe" (aka "Hunter"), a man with a mysterious past and a (presumably) deadly mission. When strange things start to happen at the facility, she realizes that Hunter is more than he seems, and that discovering his secrets could be dangerous to her health.

This is a re-read (years later) of one of my favorite old 43 Light Street books. It's full of the kind of craziness only found in romance novels, including apparent insta-love at a time before insta-love was a term. Kathryn is smart and strong, and Hunter is definitely her match. This is a series romance that has mostly held up to the test of time.
