This is one of my favourite poetry collections I've ever read. I felt everything Andrea Gibson wrote with such an intensity that it surprised me. I laughed, I cried, I reflected. Some of my favourite poems included:
- A Letter to My Dog Exploring the Human Condition
- The Madness Vase
- A Letter to White Queers
- Panic Button Collector
- If you're someone living with OCD, this poem might especially resonate with you!
- Etiquette Leash
I'm grateful for the chance to read this work and highly recommend it to others (but please consult the content warnings).
Graphic: Racism, Sexual assault, Police brutality, Pedophilia, Homophobia, Sexual violence, Panic attacks/disorders, Mental illness, and Sexual harassment
Moderate: Alcoholism, Alcohol, and Suicide

This was such a good collection! Great poems about justice, love, feminism, and childhood. I will be giving this book to my friends and tell them they should read it. I loved how Gibson snuck some humor into some of their poems, it surprised me and made me laugh out loud. Loved the self awareness too.
Moderate: Sexual assault
Minor: Police brutality
Gibson has some poems in this collection about her SA and mentions people who were killed by police.
