i feel like there are some nice lines in the book but in terms of subject matter it's not something that deeply resonates with me at the moment - like i feel like it should deeply resonate with me but maybe it's just not what i want to read? i have great respect for this poet and really appreciated attending a workshop with her in person (which is where i bought the book!). but after reading chen chen's book i feel like it didn't perfectly resonate with my own nuanced experience with my family as much as chen chen's book did, and i thought it was a little too train-of-thought/unsent letter-esque to immerse me.
