I've been a fan of Reese Witherspoon's for years. Man in the Moon is one of my top 10 favorite movies. She seems genuine, talented, and caring. I wanted to love this book but personally, all I loved were the pictures. I felt she came across as narrow-minded in areas where I didn't anticipate and the recipes were kinda your basic church recipe book variety. I understand that is part of the intended charm but as a lifestyle book, and the first book by a person I enjoy, it didn't do it for me.

This was not at ALL what I thought it was going to be. I didn't read the synopsis or anything so I just assumed it was a memoir. It is to a very small extent. It talks about her growing up in the south some and living there now but it's more like a "guide to living in the south".

I listened to this on audiobook, which made it more enjoyable. I'll definitely be using some of the recipes and things from the PDF that came with it.

I'm really glad I got this heavily discounted because I think I would have been really disappointed with the small amount of content that you get. Not sure I would really recommend it or not. Haha.

This book is definitely a coffee-table read.

Whiskey in a Teacup by Reese Witherspoon is a lighthearted read with excerpts from the author's life as she grew up in the United States South. This book does not have much substance; rather the author spends her time informing the audience how to best keep a southern home, touching topics from dinner parties and cooking to monogrammed linen. The recipes were a nice touch, but I wouldn't recommend sitting down to properly read this book because it feels like reading a cookbook. This being said, the book does what it sets out to do.

Pretty boring honestly. I really enjoy Reese as a flamboyant woman, but this book wasn’t really giving me anything to be invested in. I was hoping for a bit more substance.

I’m a big fan of Reese, but this book was not for me. I’m definitely not the target audience, so others will most likely enjoy it more than I did. I did not grow up in the South and none of the traditions in this book are something I’ll rub out and adopt as my family and community already have their own traditions (that is not an insult to Southern traditions whatsoever). Something that really irritated me about this book was how she would mention a memory and describe a picture- why not show the picture? Like her overly blushed face, or her Halloween costume. It happened over and over.

I would say if you’re a Southern woman, you’ll love this book. I still like Reese a lot, this book was just not my cup of tea (or whiskey).

Reese Witherspoon, a native to Nashville, Tennessee, shares advice on how to incorporate Southern practices into everyday life: from hosting and manners to personal appearance and everything in between.

I mistakenly thought this was going to be an autobiography, not a how-to book, so was disappointed in that sense. But it was quaint and charming.
