This is the book I wish I had written. It evoked something very familiar to me, I'm not sure what - insecurity as a child, a mother who is into crystals and such, the claustrophobia of a small village, the small space in the day-to-day influenced by magic and myth... I found the author's descriptions highly evocative and the current of raw emotion running through the book felt convincing and moving. The landscape is a character in its own right, which I love.

I’ve just finished this book and honestly, I’m not sure how I feel. I found it difficult to read, it’s taken me 2 weeks to finish and it’s not a long book. I just felt it was very slow and long winded for what was an unsatisfying ending with lots of questions unanswered.
