a very sweet and heartfelt little story! i loved the simple, almost monochrome colour palate, which really gave the whole book such a cool and moody vibe.
as with many graphic novels, the story passed a little too fast for my liking. but on the bright side, it’s a very fast-paced and engaging read that you can finish quickly, and thus may be good for getting out of reading slumps and stuff like that!

When Leon takes a selfie with his secondhand camera a queer punk rocker named Cody jumps out and starts haunting him. Taking Leon's body for a spin for the night he gets to experience how the world has changed since his mysterious death. But Leon has his own past trauma to deal with too.
The two grow closer as they both learn about eachothers worlds and interests. Bonding over music, complexities of love and slurpies. And i am absolutely in love with Leon and Cody. It reminded me of the cuteness of Heartstopper, but a bit more adult. The illustration and coloring work is a perfect fit too.
Before each new chapter the pages are filled with photographs. Kinda like snapshots of what happens in between. Real photos with the characters edited in. So cool!
I don't want to spoil too much about the story because honestly, you should just go an enjoy it yourself.

The art has a similar aspect to It Took Luke, being greyscale except the presence of one color. Here, blue, for a variety of things such as ghosts. For some reason it felt more crowded and distracting in Light Carries On- maybe because too many things are blue, rather than being blood? The characters are bone-basic so the romance is a nothing, and there’s not much else to say. The premise has merit but I was ultimately disappointed.
