Enjoyable. I found that Simon was forgiven entirely too easily. Actually, Maggie just forgives people too easily in general. I have complicated feelings about their relationship, but I think that's mostly internal stuff (me stuff, I mean). Simon was alternately wonderful and a jerk--it left me feeling a little caught in the throes of whiplash. Still, it was a fun enough read and I'll be continuing the series for now.

You know, I wasn't looking for something amazing, just something light and fun to read during the quarantine/Covid 19 crisis and this fit the bill. It was generally well written, a bit smutty and quite enjoyable if you checked your brain at the door.

But, my big question with this, and most of the historical romance novels that I read occasionally...why does the heroine always end up preggers? I know that most types of birth control didn't exist at this time, but surely some of them must have been barren?

Surprisingly good. This started off slow and somewht boring but then really drew me in. The H was soooo blind, torn between his ex and the h and I really got into the angst of it all. The twist at the end unexpected and kept me reading, wondering how it would be resolved. As usual the H doesn't grovel enough but I felt his remorse.

This was going great for me, in fact I was sure this would be a 5 star read but then the third act brought it down. I loved Simon so much since the beginning but then he pulled a disappearing act at the end which was uncalled for and I don’t really believe his reasoning behind his motives. The man apparently only knows how to run. I was very disappointed in him. I was sure he was sure of Maggie and their relationship and then he just runs and the why is even more frustrating. The former mistress decided to manipulate him for the very last time and as a fool that Simon is, he fell for it. Again I’m very disappointed in how he dealt with the situation. Moreover I don’t think he did enough to earn Maggie back and I don’t fault Maggie for anything. Maggie stayed strong through everything including “his groveling” ( if you can call it that) and although he won her with words, to me it wasn’t enough because he was too unreliable. He disappeared when he wed and then he disappears again when things started getting real and then he disappears for good with no one even knowing if he’s alive or not and then he comes back thinking Maggie would welcome home? Nah huh, I don’t think so. She made him work for it a bit but not enough.
