Really amazing book and the main story is super amazing...   Really recommend it for kids and if they are not into reading let them watch the book's movie (the movie is also called coraline)

A children’s horror story, remarkable just for that fact. Neil Gaiman brilliantly portrays the naiveness of a child who believes she knows everything and that refuses to give into fear and desperation, showing bravery and character.

However it also has some lessons about adulthood and what it means to be human, especially when weighing out the things that are “important” to us. Through the eyesight of a child, who has not yet come to suffer from stress or disbelief, we are able to define the things that we actually care about and that we often forget to ackowledge, either because they are so readily available or because it requires the effort we tend to only put on meeting deadlines.

Coraline is one my favorite movies and I really liked the book as well, so I have no idea why it took me so long to find out this book exists. It's a really great companion to both the movie and the book, giving much additional information and gorgeous full-page pictures.

This book starts by revealing how Coraline came to be written at all before looking at how it then got to be a movie. It's interesting to see how circumstances combined to bring everything together. There's a lot about the development of techniques that were used, or considered, for the animation followed by a short chapter on the cast of characters. It finishes up with a run through of related material, such as plays and games.
For anyone who loves Coraline, this book is a must-read.
