my daughter loved this book. She read it 3 times (thats surprising for her. she loves reading, but rarely does she read a book twice).

I think Madison changed a lot in Top 8. Before she used to talk about people behind their backs and when all their secrets were posted on her Friendverse, she didn't see anything wrong about telling other people vs. putting it online. Madison's bff, Ruth, was really good at hiding that she was the one behind the hacking. I understood her motive, but that doesn't mean you had to do. You ruin her life and other people lives just because you were sick of living in her shadow. I am happy that Madison is not with Justin, but ended up with Nate, who along liked since their trip together. Yay! I give this book 5 stars

This is a hard book for me to rate. The main character, Madison, was unlikable for most of the book and yet I was hooked on the story and wanted things to work out for her. I wouldn't exactly call it a 'well-written' book but it did do its job as far as being interesting and intriguing. In a way, I liked Madison being unlikable, because her shallowness seemed realistic for a teenager in a time where a lot of books make every single teenager a quirky genius. She also did grow and change, and it didn't feel preachy. The book was enjoyable. A good book. Not a great book, but a good one for relaxing and not stressing the mind too much.

There was something so strangely compelling about this book. I picked it up expecting it to be exactly what it was, a high school girl dealing with drama over the internet. I did not expect to read the entire thing in one sitting as I laughed and got mad and screamed "I knew it!" and "CALLED IT!" at 1 AM. Very enjoyable and realistic in its depiction of high school.

2.5, solid.

It's contemporary, but I think that even rabid 16-year-olds would see through how ridiculous a lot of this is. But the idea itself is pretty unique...at least so far!

Very typical, very cliche, kind of boring. But not boring enough for me to completely despise it. I'm sure a lot of people liked this book well enough. I thought it was fine, just nothing special. It was also hard to get through at times since the narrative could be very annoying.

This was a fairly good book. The characters were funny and relatable and I liked how the author set up the book.

This book was so cutesy and cliché but in the best ways. I adore this book!

This was cuteness. And boy did it really take me back. I have not read a book like this one in hot minute. It is just quintessential 2000s, you know? Dorky, but cute. At first, I was like, oh my gosh this is not a mystery because it is so easy to see through. But then I read more and my theories got busted a couple times and it took me a little while to figure out it was the best friend. I knew Ruth liked Justin but then I forgot that and I thought that she and Dell were behind it because Dell wanted a shot with Liz and Ruth with Jimmy. But, anyway, I'd be interested to see if the two other books are mystery themed too, or nah. Also, we all knew Nate was better from the moment he was described as the "cute guy from the cruise" I'd be interested to see how his and Maddie's relationship progresses as well. I hope they don't break up. I'm emotionally invested.
Also, I thought it was cool to go back and read more of Morgan Matson's work from before she was Morgan Matson. I didn't even know this existed before I heard about it on a book podcast, but I'm so glad I did. I can tell how her writing has grown and I love Since You've Been Gone.
