cynthiabemisabrams's review against another edition
4.0
It's a rare person who through researching her family history, is able to provide an up-close lens of America's race experience. I found this book informative, accessible and respectful to Gail Lumet Buckley's own perspective. Published in 1986, this is an important entry in the stack of books dedicated to Lena Horne's life and career. I am grateful to have found it available for loan from the Chicago Public Library.
