A beautiful picture book about the ways a family gets their farm ready for the winter. I especially love the author's note at the end that describes how Doyle writes letters to a class of 3rd graders every year and then at the end of the year, they come visit her farm, help with some of the chores, and then have lunch together.

Just lovely. Evocative text that explains farming within the comfortable, classic context of a bedtime book. Beautiful illustrations, too.

January 2017 - I thought it was gorgeous, but it didn't quite hook Ben.

Hits my nostalgia button really hard, with a modern sensibility for farm families. Lovely.

A delightful (and rather educational!) story of how farmers prepare for winter will leave you feeling just as cozy and snug as their critter and crops. Peaceful illustrations hearken to Grandma Moses and make you want to get outside and see what you can do in the garden... whatever the weather...
