Genuinely confused as to how much of this book is fact, but diverting enough.

I wanted to like this a lot more than I did because Ghostbusters (2016) jumped immediately to my top 3 fave moves ever. I definitely cheated and skimmed the last third or so. I was also a little put off that it was written by a dude, like cmon the movie is about badass women and the book is supposedly being written by the two lead female characters you could at least hire a woman writer for it. If you want more ghostbusters probably your better bet is to go to ao3 and read fanfic.

This book was fun, well thought out, and entertaining. It read like I'd imagine a real guide to investigating ghosts would. And it's very funny in the moments it's so incredibly self-aware.

There was some actually pretty interesting stuff in this book. I don't really believe in ghosts but the information on paranormal investigation throughout history was actually really interesting to read about!

Ghost from Our Past complementa la película 100%.

I loved the idea of publishing Erin and Abby's book, but I found it a dry read, which was disappointing. There were some humorous asides and some interesting facts, but it wasn't very engaging so it took me a long time to read.

If I had to choose just one word to describe this book, it'd be "endearing".
One might say that it gets overly goofy at times... but on the other hand, it's never boring.
Full of enjoyable touches. Worth a read if you enjoy paranormal fiction, Ghostbusters, or reading things for fun.

I received this from Blogging for Books in exchange for an honest review.

If you aren't already aware, Ghosts From Our Past is a movie companion novel for the newest Ghostbusters movie that came out in 2016. I finished this book, then I watched the movie. It was kind of fun to have read the book because it is the book that is referenced in the movie. However, I still did not like it.

I know that it was written to reflect how young and dumb Erin and Abby were, which made a lot more sense when watching the movie. It is supposed to show how immature and inexperienced they were when they originally wrote the book. The version that we are reading, though, is supposed to be the "revised edition," but it still reflects an immaturity that I found difficult to read.

It was fun in spots and interesting here and there. However, it became a bit of a chore to read, especially toward the end. I was so excited to read it because I've been a fan of Ghostbusters since I was really little. I liked the movie, but the book was just meh. Overall, I would give this book 2 out of 5 stars.
