A comical reimagining of The Twelve Days of Christmas done with charming illustrations and math. Fun all around. The last time we read this I gave it four stars. This year we read it as an extension to our Christmas Unit as a comparison to the traditional song/picture book version by Jan Brett and I enjoyed it even more in that context. It is a great way for kids to visualize what all of those gifts would really look like and I love that Emma, though she falls for the prince, doesn't just fall head over heels and compromise who she really is. She says, "yes, I love you, but are you willing to give up your life at the palace to become a farmer prince and live with me?" Which is just a great ending.

Just the best rendition of this song that I've read! The illustrations are lovely.
