The book may be too inside with its references. And the style on these two stories (6 chapters each) is workman-like, similar to a very early Richard Fleischer noir. But I am glad I read these gems that don’t have as much connection to the 1990 film (that I found quite fun) as I might have hoped. But manage to hit the spot regardless
