I'm not really that much of a fan of Donna Jo Napoli, but this was one of her better ones. It was action packed, but was slow at times. It is set in one of the most beautiful and historic cities in the world, and through this book, we see the city of Venice through different eyes, through the eyes of the natives that live there. We experience the desperation and love they have for their suffering city as they attempt to save it from modern society.

Definitely a teenage read. I picked it up as I have several of Donna Jo Napoli stories on my wishlist (alternative fairy tales). This one was a quick read, and enjoyable. A love story, with some politics thrown in.

This book was boring. I thought there would be a sweet little romance. Not really. Not in my memory. I remember that Venice floods and the girl (native to Venice) is mad at the boy (not a native to Venice) because tourists don't care enough that Venice floods every year.
