Kensi is a private investigator and a good one. There are two things you should know about her though. Number one? She's a werewolf. Number two? She's royalty. And I guess it's important to know that she can't shift and she has to hide it from everyone in the werewolf community. This secret means keeping everyone at a distance and never allowing anyone in.

Drake is a protector, a werewolf strong enough to be alpha. He is loyal and kind and having a stranger come in to solve a mystery he couldn't...well, it's emasculating. Add in that he and his co-protector, Leo, don't actually get along and there's bound to be tension.

Fox does a wonderful job of setting up clues, and foreshadowing. She doesn't give us much into the possible suspects so as readers, the murderer isn't obvious from the start, which is rare in a lot of paranormal fiction.

The biggest issue I had with this book is the romance. Oftentimes it seems forced and written by someone who felt like they didn't really want it at all. And while the investigation into the missing werewolf was interesting, I could have done without the stereotypical paranormal romance where the girl has to choose her future or a man. It's been done and the choice is always the same. I think that this book would have warranted a better rating if the author had chosen to go in a different direction or if, at the very least, the relationships felt more authentic.
