This was a chore to read, unfortunately. I liked the first two well enough, but this one dragged. I don't know if maybe it is because I listened to the first two on audio and read this one.

The dual POVs didn't really work as well with this book. I didn't quite care enough about either one to ever get fully invested. I also thought the whole pregnancy thing was ridiculous. Two teenage boys fighting for the right to parent a teenage girl's baby? Okay. I'm sure the whole point was how things change in a post-apocalyptic setting, but the glorification of teenage pregnancy was eyeroll-worthy.

The ending was weird, too. It wrapped up super quickly and way too neatly.

I like the author and I will definitely read more of her work, but Savage Drift was a miss.

I wasn't too fussed about this one. I think with a little expansion to book 2 it should have ended there.

Dammit it takes the honour of being the second book to ever make me cry. It is emotional to see what these kids go through and the story arc is so beautifully sculpted that it just fit together so nicely. This needs more love because it was fricking amazing.
So many feels for so many characters even the annoying ones annoyed me in a good way. Jake did the right thing, the baby came happily and Alex and Dean got their parents back.
It was a happy ending and I'm so happy it was, usually apocalyptic/dystopian fiction finale's leave me a little reserved but not Savage Drift was stunning. Another one night read by complete accident as well. Already planning a reread.

Great ending to the Monument 14 series. We learn more about the effects of the biological bomb. Maybe the Monument 14 group will find a real and safe home? Will families be reunited? What about Astrid's baby?

Saying goodbye to characters that you have spent the last few reads with is always hard to do. Laybourne's teen dystopian series Monument 14 did what some other teen dystopian tales cannot do...portray teens with real life reactions to disaster. Although the storyline went over the top at times, the characters were well done and some not so likable... a true testament to a good writer. As a reader, I appreciated the tying up of loose ends and felt satisfied with the ending of the trilogy.

I went into this thinking there really didn't have to be another book, but these are so realistically creepy and makes you think. The ending was a great conclusion to the trilogy.
