I don't fault Heaney for his translation in my rating of it. It's a very good translation. I just think I'm one of those types of people who either needed to read it on paper (I listened to his audio recording) or would prefer the storyline set in prose form.

Most people are wary of all things Beowulf, and even though I teach this poem, I was one of them. All that changed when I read Heaney's translation. WOW! It reads like a novel, it's incredibly descriptive, and it's been a hit with my students!
