Fun read. Fascinating storytelling. I wish the ending felt more concrete, but I enjoyed it! Premise and character execution was fabulous.

I found this book free on Amazon, and let me tell you, it is an absolute gem. Lana's a really likable character and Grim Reaper. She does what she has to get by in her job, but breaks the rules in order to help good souls she reaps that are destined for the Sea of Eternity. In the story we see Lana go from this do the bare-minimum type of reaper to an ass-kicking reaper who fights off demons. If you're looking for a quick read with a strong female character, this might be for you.

I felt that Angela Roquet created a incredibly unique world in this story. She didn't just put Reapers into the human world, she also gave them their own world. There are so many details put into the world. I think that the thing I loved the most about this book is that it combined so many beliefs and gave them all a place in the after life. Basically whatever you believe, there's a place for you in the Afterlife that Angela Roquet dreamed up. Because of that there's a crash course in a variety of different beliefs and mythologies.

I think this is still free on Amazon, but please do not let that fool you. I know some free books can be questionable at best, but this is a really good read. It's quick, it's light, it's funny, but it's really awesome.

Super creative concept with an urban-fantasy located in the after-life with a society that mirrors the 21st century west. The idea that the deceased find the heaven or hell defined by their religions is not new, nor is the notion that non-believers end up somewhere 'not quite'. The author's twist on this is brilliantly engaging as is the heroine, Lana Harvey.

There are some serious world-building holes that undercut the whole. For example, the number of reapers and their daily workload doesn't account for the numbers of people who die every year in the 21st century world.

I loved the fact that this book was not centered around a romance story. I think the idea is pretty unique and has enough mystery to keep you hooked. I was able to like the main character even though they seemed a bit shallow at the beginning. It was a free read that has interested me enough to read the rest of the series.

Definitely a good start the world was introduced and wow what an imagination this Author has.....

Lana works in Limbo as a reaper, not fully invested in her job she gets by.... The plot thickens when someone on the council is suspected of treachery and a very important soul has to be found.

I like there didn't seem to be a complex plot going on but as the books go on and we get to know the characters more i can see some great story potential, it was fab that the first book didn't overwhelm me....

Its a 4 star as i felt the characters lacked chemistry between each other, still that could be due to this being book 1 definitely looking forward to the next....

Narrator was amazing!!!!!!

I am a sucker for anything with mythology involved. I'm a HUGE fan of Rick Riordan's many different myth books. I love nonfiction myth books. Piers Anthony's Incarnations...yeah, that's the stuff.

I snagged this book because I needed a light read while I'm at work (on breaks) and this looked cute enough. Holy fuzzballs! There were myths intertwined with faiths and religious characters from all different eras. Their presence was explained in an easy manner, easy to understand, easy to believe.

The story was cute enough. Yes, there were a few hiccups, some characters that were poorly explained, some parts where it dragged on...but I'm going to be honest with you...I don't care. I'm off to buy the next one. Yes...real money in this age of sharing and libraries and free books.

HIGHLY recommend...will share with my myth-loving kiddo right away.

Graveyard Shift is book one in the Lana Harvey, Reapers Inc. series by Angela Roquet.

Lana doesn’t like her position as a reaper and doesn’t quite follow the rules. She’s compassionate and kick-ass. The author weaves in many different types of religions and their accompanying deities and gods. It’s done in a well round way that it’s weaved into the story nicely. It’s got great world-building and character development.

The only thing I didn’t get on board with is the love interest though that is in the background and not the focus of the story.

It’s a nice introduction to the series. The author pulled me in and has me invested in Lana Harvey and the outcome of the character and world. Looking froward to reading more in the Lana Harvey, Reapers Inc. series.

Rated: 4 Stars

I believe I got this book for free as part of a promotion on the Apple Books store. It’s in my wheel house but I’d not heard of it until I got a notification it was no charge.

I was surprised at how well I enjoyed it. It’s fantasy world of the afterlife, but every religion is involved. While it has elements of previous attempts at ‘grim reaper life’ like the old Showtime show which name is escaping me, it’s very different in its world building vs previous outings.

Yes it’s got lots of ‘pop culture’ jokes and whatever, I don’t expect high falutin’ writing all the time, tis a fun read and something to pass the time with. I’ll definitely want to follow on and see where things are going next.
