What was that ending! I can't tell if I like it or not.

Might use this to map out good plotting. Watched the film then read the screenplay a few years later. It's insane to realize that the magic of the characters is all in the written words themselves, in their raw form, rather than just the brilliance of the actors alone turning th fiction into reality. Just great!

This is the screenplay for the film, not a novelization. Further, it’s a Martin McDonagh screenplay that he intended to direct, so it’s very spare in its descriptions. Which I prefer, but others seem to have an issue with that, so set your expectations accordingly.

That said, this is very close to the final film. (Which is great, btw.) Some parts are laugh-out-loud funny while other scenes have a sense of danger. This is par for the course for McDonagh movies, a mix he used to great effect in both In Bruges and Seven Psycopaths.

This one is more character-centric than plot-focused, so anyone looking for a resolution to the central question posed by Mildred will be disappointed. However, the arc both she and Dixon experience have them meeting in the middle from their opposite yet equally angry starting points, and that’s the entire point of the story.

The thing that puzzled me the most about the movie is why it’s so white. I mean, it takes place in Missouri. That state has an 80/12 split when it comes to race, so there should be more than 2 minor African-American characters. But then the guy is British, so it probably didn’t occur to him.

... But it's not like the rating's gonna come off as a surprise, is it.
