Exquisite writing in this one. The storyline isn’t the strongpoint, although how society would handle universal sterility is an interesting thought. But the insightful paragraphs on relationships, emotions, the nature of power, justice, etc. were what made it really stand out to me.

From the book description, this sounded like a book that I would love, so I was excited when it was selected as the discussion book for one of my book clubs.

The book gets off to a slow start and goes into great depth into the mind of the main character, who is rather unsympathetic and not very relatable. None of the other characters are relatable either and we have no insight into what motivates them. The ending was disappointing (and was a very different ending than the movie version).

Excellent concept, poorly excecuted

The ideas were fantastic, but the characters changed characterisation multiple times and the ending was hypocritical and unsatisfying. Not as good as I had hoped.
