I seem to be obsessed with this series at the moment!

Another serial killer for Bobbie and Nick to track down, but this one (depraved...tw: disturbing torture, very dark) is simply a distraction to keep them busy while the mastermind psycho plots his escape from prison.

Lots of twists and turns as the body count rises. Yes, I had already unmasked the killer, but the journey kept me riveted. On to the next...I appear to be a captive to this series.

I have read several of the books in this author's Faces of Evil series. I really enjoyed reading those books. While, I did not read the first book in this new series, I had no problem jumping right into this book. Bobby is a strong character. The little bit I got to know about her, made me that more intrigued to know more. Then there is the dynamics between her and Nick. They are not lovers but the bond they share spilled over blood keeps me in the game. Nick has mystery surrounding him. He is like an onion. As each layer was revealed, more questions were left. Just like the big one left towards the end of the story.

The first half of the story was more about the characters. This was nice in a way for me as I was able to get familiar with them having not read the first book. Yet, after a while, I did want the story to pick up the pace and get more focused on the serial killer. Luckily, this happened in the later second half of the story. There were some face offs. I know that Bobby does not go down without a fight. I look forward to following this series.

Like Bobbie MUCH more in this one!

I do have to say that I have found a new favorite author. Ms. Webb does an excellent job of drawing the reader right into the story to the point that you can almost smell the blood.

This story is gritty with a kick ass heroine, Bobby Gentry, who doesn't know how to quit once she is on the trail. She is assisted by the mysterious Nick Shade who goal in life was to hunt serial killers. That was until he meet Bobby who has managed to work her way under his skin so now he has another goal which is to try to keep her safe.

A DEEPER GRAVE is the second book in this series and I do have to say that they just keep getting better and better. I would recommend this book and this series to any of my readers who enjoy gritty thrillers with a touch of romance. I do want to give my readers a heads up that this book does portray graphic violence so be forewarned.

*** I received this book at no charge from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed within are my own.

Stop giving me regular characters only to kill them off!

Part 2...just as good as book 1

continuing from the last book. A killer brings Bobbie and Nick back together..... but why? There is a new character. There is a twist in the story. And there is death.

Once you get into the story, you are drawn in. You think you know who the killer is, but are you right? You think you know how it will end, but it didn't end like I thought.

Ms. Webb has outdone herself once again with A DEEPER GRAVE.
This story will keep you on the edge of your seat. It's incredibly fast paced, it's emotional, and very intense. A complex and convincing book that had me hooked from the first line all the way until the last. This fast-paced thriller is the definition of a page-turner! You can’t wait to find out what happens next. Highly recommended!

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series- it was a bit over the top, but still engaging and fun to read. This one- not so much.
There was a bit too much suspension of disbelief needed- really, an entire network of "Super" serial killers? Has the author ever read anything about actual serial killers? And Bobbi just doesn't seem to be a very good detective- she always plays right into the killers' hands by doing exactly what they want her to, and even despite the fact that she gets a brand sparkly new too good to be true partner with apparently no real background check it never occurs to her to investigate him a bit herself? I'd think that the department might be able to keep more of their people alive if she'd learn a few lessons along the way.

Still a pretty good read though- I think that I'll wait a while to start on the third as I'm a bit too grumpy about it now to enjoy it :-)
