Slow burn, consent, two adults finding each other and choosing each other. Creepy mages. Wolfs and vamps oh my. Sex in a volcano cauldron.

Past torture and trauma.

I have been reading this series for years. I had stopped for a while, but have recently gotten back into it, playing catch up. I am not going to do a synopsis of the book. You can find that elsewhere.

I liked the overall concept of the story. I have liked Zev Hunted since he was introduced in Dark Lycan. Branislava his life mate, not my favorite female lead, but she was ok.

What I didn't like was all the repetition. Don't get me wrong, I realize it is the basis of the book, but it has been explained early on in this book and the characteristics that comes with having it. But I don't need reminded every chapter (that is what it felt like). There were more things that were repeated a little too much but this one seemed to weigh the book down for me.

This book takes place shortly after the events at the end of Dark Wolf (Dark #25) when Zev Hunter was mortally wounded fighting against rogue Lycans. He was saved only because Branislava joined her life force to his and kept him from death. They have been in the healing earth but it seems his services are needed by Carpathians and the Lycans to find a traitor in their ranks. Zev has to deal with almost dying, his feelings for Branka and figuring out how to use both his Lycan and Carpathian gifts to keep everything he holds dear safe.
Christine Feehan does action, adventure and romance like nobody else. Dark Blood is a prime example of this. This book is a non-stop roller coaster that will have you flipping pages with alacrity. If I have one complaint it is that we didn’t get to see more of Gary. There is a lot of the Carpathian language in this story but it is all translated as it happens you don’t have to go to the index to see what they were saying.

I love Zev. I knew he was special as soon as he was introduced. Branca is absolutely perfect for him. What I enjoyed most was that while Zev is positively & absolutely Alpha, he's a bit vulnerable while learning to incorporate his Carpathian side. It's endearing watching Branca help him with that.

Finn and Dimitri are hysterical when they interact with Zev and the girls. I loved all of the Carpathian couples and their families that make an appearance.

There was quite a bit of action in this book, and I loved seeing more of the mage battles in this book.

I can hardly wait to see where the series goes from here.

Fantastic!

As usual, Christine Feehan knocked it out of the park. Loved watching Zev and Bronnie fall in love while fighting their enemies.

I was anticipating this book from the moment I read Fen's book. It did not disappoint.

I was glad that much of the relationship drama was nonexistent. All the tension came from the enemy.

A lot of the previous characters both Carpathian and Jaguar are there along with the newer Lycans.

There were moments of repetitive speeches about this and that, but on the whole, Zev was --SQUEE! -- so adorkable! I wanted to cuddle with him! Heh heh.

All in all, a good read.
