A killer book about a killer book!
Weird and fun, this is actually a collection of short stories tied neatly together in an ongoing horror novel.
Each character that opens the book finds a story, often very similar to their current circumstances, and always scary.
It’s a bit confusing at times, but all comes together eventually and clears up any confusion.
Chapter 8, titled Upperville, is horror writing at it’s best, and is worth the price of the book.

A quick read, a collection of short stories that wind together as if bound by the scarlet thread. Haunting, humorous, and utterly painful - a very human experience. I am so honored to have come across L. Marie's work. Beautiful.

VERY WEIRD!
The synopsis of this book really intrigued me, the story is original and has a good premise, but it fell short.
This story follows a mysterious book that some how gets left behind, people are unquestionably drawn to it until they read a story from it ( one that is just for them), which is the last thing they do. It switches between the main ‘real world’ and the stories read by the people who find the book.
What makes The Open Book weird is that it is so dis-jointed that it’s hard to follow and often times feels unfinished. It is said that the people who read this mysterious book all die, however only a few deaths are actually mentioned, it is unclear as to how the book gets from one person to another or what happens to each person after they read it.
Thank you to Hidden Gem for a copy of this book, my review is completely honest and voluntary.
