Better than I remember it being. I still think it's one of the weaker ones of the series, but look, it's Rick Riordan. Even his less-good books are still top-tier overall.

Spoiler I think a lot of the "problems" I had with BoO when I was 16 make sense now. The biggest thing, of course, being the absence of POVs from Percy and Annabeth, which I wasn't thrilled about on my first read. Now it makes sense, because ultimately, this story isn't about them. I mean it is, but their roles weren't to be the "Big heroes" of the quest. They did their part; now they're passing the torch on to another generation of heroes to let them save the day. And honestly, they deserve it. I hope they're happy in New Rome together.

Also, how old is Nico? Because I'm pretty sure this timeline doesn't check out. But anyway.

I think I just died. I can’t process everything yet. This was almost perfect. The one thing I did not like was the Reyna POV. I don’t know why I just did not.
Everything else was amazing. Percy and Annabeth’s plan for the future? I’m crying tears of joy. Nico straight up admitting his crush on Percy to him and then saying sorry, I’m over you though? Phenomenal. Jason, Piper, Hazel, Frank? Soo excited for their future. And of course, my boy Leo? That ending was just too good to be true. I hope we get a series about his adventures.
The hint about Apollo’s punishment? Poor guy but I can’t wait to read that series too.
Overall, I’m definitely going to reread this in the future to hang out with my crew again. I hope we get to see all their lives until the day they die at 150. Can demigods live that long? Let’s find out please!!!!

A summer to remember.

I waited the better part of a decade to read this.

What a finale. The combat was somewhat brief, while everything around it was brilliant. Riordan's dialogue is cheeky but sincere, world building succinct and stable, callbacks and cliff hangers abound as he wraps up this saga.

There's not strictly a boy everything at the end, but an invitation into the next, more mature chapter of our demigods' lives.
