For sure meant to be listened to, very narrative podcast like. Interesting snapshot of the time and insight to Reed’s life.

Mostly about Ishmael Reed, not so much about Malcolm. However, I felt that I should have known more about Reed, so was glad to learn. I'll be reading some of his poetry, probably not his novels.
The narrative was a little disjointed, but it didn’t bother me much.

If this wasn't a free listen, I would have returned it. The summary of this book does not match the content. Malcolm X is not central to this book at all. I'm giving two stars because this book flirts with the idea of being interesting a few times but, for the most part, it is boring and all over the place.

Interesting but not what I expected. Worth the listen but I was hoping to learn more about Malcolm X, and instead took a journey through the authors life.

A quick overview of (or introduction to) Ishmael Reed’s life and career, based loosely on his interactions with Malcolm X when they were young men.

I found this book to be very rambling and difficult to discern a plot, a message, or a theme. I am interested in reading more of the author’s work as I do not believe this is his best.
